My friend, Dawn Rae Miller, has just come out with her debut novel, Larkstorm. It was released on the 6th and she's been having some amazing success and wonderful reviews all over the place. Yay Dawn!
Another friend of ours JUST got her first e-reader (a Kindle) and she was very excited to be downloading Dawn's book as her very first. I remember that excitement of getting my e-reader and was trying to remember what the very first book I purchased was. It was Courtney Summers' newly released Fall For Anything. Nothing for me will replace the feel of a real book with pages and bookmarks and covers that I can lay on my night table and fall asleep staring at, but there is a real excitement about having any book you want at your finger tips, without having to go anywhere or do a whole lot to get it (actually, that would be the "dangerous" part of e-readers: not getting carried away and downloading EVERYTHING you want to read).
So, for those of you who have an e-reader, what was the very first book you downloaded? If you don't have one and you were going to get one for this holiday season or sometime in the near future, what would be the first book you would want to download?
BRING IT ON. (I'm ready)

I got my Kindle last Christmas. The first book I downloaded was Where Mercy is Shown, Mercy is Given, which is Dog the Bounty Hunter's book, lol. I was a huge fan of the show, and I also had a little idea flickering in the back of my head for a story. So, I read his book, and then I wrote the book that landed me my latest agent!
ReplyDeleteI love, love my Kindle! I'd highly recommend it to anyone who is a book lover.
I'm totally going to massacre this question.
ReplyDeleteA. I don't have a kindle, I'm on an ipad
B. the first book I downloaded was a library loan, but I was still excited to actually get a book without having to drive out to the library, search the shelves only to come up empty handed, yada yada yada. And, I actually downloaded it to my computer so I'm not sure if that even counts? haha, it was Hate List by Jennifer Brown.
C. the first book I purchased and read on the ipad was Dream Smashers by Angela Carlie, a self-pubbed author.
D. I'm a total stuffed shirt and hate spending 10$ on a book unless I can get something I actually hold in my hands. Which is AWFUL. Most e-books I buy are by self-pubbed authors and so they're cheaper.
And... I think that's it.
My first Kindle purchase was HATE LIST in 2009. Great book!
ReplyDeleteI don't even remember what my first e-book was, but I have enjoyed having the option. I'm with you on feeling the pages and all. Still, it is nice to be able to bring five books with you on one little device that fits in your purse...
ReplyDeleteI had to look it up, because I have read a TON of eBooks since I got my Nook last Christmas. But the very first one I DL'd and read was WITCH AND WIZARD by James Patterson. The sample was pre-loaded on my Nook when I opened it and I HAD to read something right away.
ReplyDeleteWhat a book selling strategy that is, huh?
Yep, Larkstorm for me. So excited to read! And I keep my new, first-ever kindle next to my horse and buggy... (yikes). I will admit I am an old soul when it comes to books: I love the smell and feel of actual books. BUT. Having an e-reader means having access to books I wouldn't have otherwise (or wouldn't for a long while). Okay, off to learn about these new fangled "ipads"... ;)
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I count because I just have the Kindle app on my laptop, but my first book was Between the Lines by Tammara Webber. Super cute!
ReplyDeleteUmmmm. I think my first book on Kindle was Dracula... Ummmm, what can I say? It was FREE and I'd never read it..
ReplyDeleteHehe.
:)
It's hard to remember, but I'm about 99% sure it was Lock & Key by Sarah Dessen. I ended up buying the real book anyhow! lol
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to your friend Dawn on her debut!
ReplyDeleteHmmm... I've had my Kindle since Aug 2010 - what WAS my first download? I think it was Stephen King's UNDER THE DOME. The hardcover was a so big, it was a doorstop. Was a much easier read on the Kindle.
My first book on the kindle was 'The Millionaire Fastlane'. Looking forward to getting my Kindle Fire real soon. I also download free e-books from http://ebookjunkie.com once in a while.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for stopping by and sharing. It's interesting to hear what everyone went for first :D
ReplyDeletethanks for stopping by Anonymous! I've never had an anonymous person comment on my blog :) It feels so...mysterious. And a little scary. LOL
