Invincible Summer by Hannah Moskowitz-A 30-Word Review

Invincible Summer by Hannah Moskowitz

Goodreads summary: Noah’s happier than I’ve seen him in months. So I’d be an awful brother to get in the way of that. It’s not like I have some relationship with Melinda. It was just a kiss. Am I going to ruin Noah’s happiness because of a kiss?

Across four sun-kissed, drama-drenched summers at his family’s beach house, Chase is falling in love, falling in lust, and trying to keep his life from falling apart. But some girls are addictive....

My 30-word review:

Fun, quirky writing style.
Amazingly realistic familial relationships.
LOVE how the story spans over several years.
Brilliantly incorporated deaf character- a
wonderful new experience.
IS runs the gamut of emotions.

  1. Oh! I'd been waiting for this one! That's what I thought of IS too, but condensed into 30 words ;) I feel like the two biggest things that polarize people for this book are Claudia's sexiness and the Camus quotes. What did you think?

  2. Hmm...wasn't really into the Camus quotes to be honest. I like how it brought the brothers together in this really cool bonding way, but other than that, I couldn't really relate or fully interpret and apply the quotes to all the situations where they were meant to be significant. Claudia's sexiness doesn't bother me as much because I've seen girls that age who dress and act that way. It wasn't too shocking for me although for the setting and the "type" of family, it felt slightly off, but not totally unrealistic to me. I actually really loved the interactions between the brothers and with Chase's relationship towards everyone. He felt so authentic and I loved the little deaf brother. That whole part of the story was just so awesome, though I didn't find myself very emotional when he died. Not sure why. It just wasn't written in a way hit my core, but still very moving and touching.

  3. I cried when the brother died, but then again I cry at the drop of a hat. :) I liked some of the Camus quotes but not all - I did find myself skimming some of those.
